Green Bikini
It is never too early or too late to make a change. My client had a plan, and followed through. It was never easy, and her job had her staying in hotel rooms, eating out often and making life less than routine. Through support, open communication and a drive to succeed, her success has only just begun. We have now started on the road towards competition prep. She will be stepping on stage at the OPA Stratford Season opener on April 13, 2013; something she would have never even dreamed of 6 months ago. I am so very proud of this AMAZING woman. Thank you for letting me guide you on your journey:) Take it away Green Bikini Girl:)
“At the end of December every year, I take stock of the current year and give some thought to what might be possible for the next. Last year, I included ‘eat healthy foods, exercise, and well balanced life’ to that list. At the time it was just a possibility without a plan or a real commitment. Months went by and I maintained a level of fitness I was comfortable with, but saw no meaningful results. It’s not that I was completely unhappy with how I looked or felt, I just didn’t love it either. I had a long list of stories I told myself…I eat well, I run, I am healthy, I am getting older, maybe i can’t have the body I really want. I thought about weight training, but didn’t know where to start and was frankly too scared to give it a go. Last December, my year end inventory planted a seed that grew throughout the year and helped me be willing to say yes to what came next. Rita was a good friend of my sisters when we were growing up. I attended the same schools as she did, and she was a favorite around our house. As we all grew, we lost touch and went separate directions. Last year, through another childhood friend, I heard about Rita’s journey. I was touched, moved, and inspired. I looked her up on Facebook and did a double take when I saw her photos. I hadn’t seen her for close to 20 years, but wow! I immediately started referring to her as Hot Rita..she was! Maybe it was because I had known Rita and saw the changes she had made, but I was inspired to learn more and started asking things like ‘why can’t I have the body I’ve always wanted?’. I was living in a world of ordinary, what Rita had done was extraordinary! How could I be part of that world? Sometimes all signs point for you to walk a certain path. When I found out that Rita did Online Personal Training, it was the last sign I needed. I could work with someone I trusted from a country away. We started working together within a week. I had no idea what I was in for. At my first weekly check in, I was honest about the ‘forbidden’ items I had eaten and I am glad that I was. Rita straightened me out from the beginning, held me accountable, held me to the commitments I had made, and encouraged me through the detox, the cravings and the initial pain. She assured me that everything was going according to plan, to just stay the course, and so I put my trust in her. Long distance training has been great. Rita supplied me with my workouts, diet, and expected me to report my progress regularly with photos, measurements, weight, and a weekly survey. I wasn’t such a fan of the check-ins at the beginning, but I am so glad that we did them. It is affirming to have a record of where you came from, where you are, and where you’re going. Regular feedback from Rita helped keep me on track and addressed any questions or concerns I had. When I started working with Rita, I was nervous that my work travel might prove challenging with the program. Rita simply helped me navigate hotel weight rooms and restaurant menus so that I could have a healthy lifestyle all the time. Rita has something special. She is kind, but firm, supportive, but accepts no excuses. There have been many a day when seeing her name in my email inbox put me right back on track. She is a stand for the greatness of all of those she works with. She has been as committed to my commitments as I am. Rita brought integrity to the game we were playing together, and I learned that commitment and integrity produce huge results. From my work with Rita, I have discovered a strength I never knew I had (both mentally and physically), a new commitment to fitness, the courage to try something new, a body I love and a new way to fuel it. I sleep better, I am more focused, and I am generally happier. I have more energy and in turn more to give to those around me. It is an extraordinary feeling when you gain respect of someone you adore. I hope that I have made Rita proud and look forward to our continued journey together. It has been an incredible experience, and certainly one of the best things I have done for myself. Building a team around my fitness goals has helped me stay focused on what I am up to, and as for the body I always wanted, well…it’s emerging. The future is full of possibility.”
