Superstar Sam
Sam has proven to be one of my most “firey” clients yet. She always asked a lot of questions, and let me know when she didnt think things were coming along right. We made adjustments along the way and I gave her some tough love. She is passionate, real, and wanted this change more then ever. She surpassed her initial goals and we are now chatting about her new ones. Watch out for Sam, she hasnt even started yet!! Take it away Sammy!
***I have had the pleasure of meeting Sam since this blog (8 months ago)- we are now bridesmaids for together for a mutual friends wedding. The beauty is, Sam has not only kept up her new body, but I would say pushed it even further. She is a real transformation and woman; juggling a high-stress career, social life(very social), family life, travelling and gym! SO PROUD OF YOU SAM!!!
“My transformation goes back almost 6 …years. At the age of 22 I was at my heaviest, pushing close to 175lbs. None of my clothes fit, I had no energy, and absolutely no drive to do anything about it. My diet consisted of everything fried and fast. The first moment of awakening for me was when I had seen a photo of myself taken at a birthday party and couldn’t believe how much weight I was carrying. Not only was the visual devastating, but my energy levels was at zero. I decided to join a gym and get into shape. My first year I actually sticked with a simple 2-3 days a week work out and ate better. It took a lot of time and a lot of work but I was eventually down 10 lbs. Being in a gym environment, I became interested in the industry and started working for a gym as a sales coordinator and later moved on to management. You would think working and being in the gym all day would have you motivated to work out, however for me it was opposite, I started slipping on my work outs, eating bad and I am ashamed to say I became the employee that sold fitness but didn’t live it.
The yo yo diets and yo yo work outs was the story of my life for about 5 years. No real change. After leaving my job at the gym, I started my career path in the Entertainment Industry. Constantly seeing “model-esque” type figures made me re-think the way I wanted to feel about my own body, and I decided to try working out again. I was in the gym almost 5 days a week, for sometimes 1-2 hours at a time. With that much time invested I thought I would be seeing changes, but still nothing. Seeing and feeling no changes led to me feeling discouraged and so continued my life of eating unhealthy and quitting the gym.
In May 2012, my best friend had mention to me that she knew an amazing trainer, Rita, that not only provided work out regiments but also menu plans; everything emailed to me with weekly check ins. I was around personal training all the time in the gym and never really thought about committing to a program (my excuse was just like everyone else “no time”). But because of my best friends recommendation I decided to research Rita’s background and found a lot of amazing things and said “this is it, lets do it”. I emailed Rita and from there it was on! Rita didn’t sugar coat anything, always straight to the point but always had constant encouragement. There were no more 2+ hours in the gym for me, I was in there following Rita’s program with purpose. The meal plans were easy and concise, and Rita was always there if I had any questions regarding foods, intake, mental state, and exercises… but the best thing that she provided on top of everything was the support and extra push. “Nothing happens overnight”, “this is not a diet, it is a lifestyle change”, are some of the things that Rita said to me early on in my training, both have stuck with me. In my first 6 weeks with Rita I had lost 19lbs and over 4 inches in my waist and 4 in my hips. The work outs that Rita had me do were challenging but exciting and every day, the muscles were building and I loved it. My clothes fit different in a fantastic way, I was feeling energized and embracing my new lifestyle. My pre conceptions of what I thought I should look like were out the window, the “model-esque” body was no longer my goal. Rita had mentioned numerous times that the goal was not solely to look great, but to feel great… This is now my goal, feeling great.
After my first 6 weeks were complete, I wanted to take it further and decided to do another round of training with Rita, with different work outs to challenge the routine further. By this time, my daily routine had changed completely; I was living my lifestyle change without even noticing it. There was no more white breads, rice, white sugar in my diet and I had no desire to eat it. Rita not only inspired me with her own story, but her knowledge on foods and the way the body worked made it very clear to me that her advice was one to take. During my second round of the program I dropped another 8lbs, and was able to see definition in my arms, shoulders, legs, abs, everywhere and I feel fantastic! In 12 weeks I lost 27 lbs and 10 inches all over. I am a new me, with a new on look on life. I know it sounds cliché, but Rita’s program really did change my life. Literally. She completely changed my mind set on how I looked at fitness and the foods I ate; My days of yo yo diets & work outs are over. My journey into my new lifestyle has just begun; I am truly living the healthy lifestyle and reaping the benefits of it, all thanks to Rita’s guidance, encouragement, knowledge and support.
**Thanks Rita, truly thank you. “
